Château d'Ussé

Travel imagesThis is a real castle, built in the XVth century, like the one you see in movies, except, that it's real. So real that it inspired Charles Perault when he wrote his novel "the sleeping beauty".

One funny thing is that for many people "The sleeping beauty" is the pink cream cake kitschy castle one finds in Disneyland, which is, in fact, very vaguely inspired by the Mont Saint Michel.
Another funny thing is that another castle from Disneyland, called "Cinderella's castle", is inspired from the Château d'Ussé mixed with bits of the Château de Chambord

Well, you can't beat the real thing, so go to Ussé in the loire valley, you'll see what I mean.
